Chapter Five

There was a pounding on Keith’s door as his eyes slowly drew open, he noticed Kirsten had already woken up and was rummaging through Keith’s fridge, “You’re almost out of milk!” she called from behind open cupboards.
Keith noticed he was still in a wolf form and felt nervous that he would never return to being human. Keith walked to the door; wrapping a meaty hand around the frail handle he gentle pulled the door ajar.
“Greeting’s Master Sutherland, Lady Prestor has requested your presence in the meeting hall immediately.” The man was brisk and to the point as he trundled off down the mansion’s hallway perhaps to deliver a message to another one of Keith’s kind.
Keith cleared a large arched doorway into a dimly lit room, decorated with painting’s that should belong in a museum and candles.
“Ah... Keith how nice of you to finally grace us with your presence” Danielle spoke sarcastically making no effort to hide her irritation.
“Sorry Danielle, I only just received your message, perhaps you should invest in phones.” Keith regretted telling the woman what to do because the moment those words left his head he felt like it was hit by a steel bat.
“You will learn respect.” She hissed at Keith, “Now about why I called you down here these are some very important people I’d like you to meet, we have Eva Bardwell she’s an elder lycan, 3300 years ago she was a Queen, in Egypt until her empire was lost to rise of Rome.” Keith looked at the woman, whose skin was rather pale she had dark brown hair but her eyes were such a light shade of blue they almost appeared white, she was wearing a Black tank top that cut short exposing her naval and a pair of large dagger’s rested on her hip’s above her tight leather pants, she looked at Keith but otherwise gave no other acknowledgement he was in the room.
“And this is Lord Hyren” Danielle gestured to the man standing to Eva’s left, “He’s 2600 making him the youngest of the elder’s he was an General in the Roman empire, he was bitten during a campaign in northern Europe.” Keith looked at this large man, he stood about six foot five inches with short shaved hair, scars on his face and arm’s a declaration to the human life he led. He wore a white shirt with a black over coat and black jeans. The man gave Keith a quick nod of his head as acknowledgement.
“You are going to have to leave soon, we’ve just received word that the UN is making a move against us, and we are evacuating the premises. Eva and Hyren have recently lost their safe houses to the human’s.” Danielle spoke thickly fighting with emotions.
“Excuse me the UN? As in the United Nations? I don’t understand” Keith was worried about what this meant.
“Since human’s discovered our existence they’ve been trying to think of ways they can exploit our species, use us in their petty war’s, they have set up miniature faction’s that act as separate entities but it is all linked via a money trail, I believe you were contacted by one mini faction, calling themselves TRL. TRL specialize in trying to create lycan’s through artificial mean’s their primary goal is turn human’s into us. Other factions like the brother hood, purely are on a hunt and destroy mission, their job is to weed out werewolf safe houses, like this and kill us, and their research department creates weapons capable of rendering our healing ability’s inactive. Right now it’s the Brother Hood that is on the move.”
“I don’t understand why don’t we just fight back?”
“Because, we aren’t death proof, they have ten times our number in active force. Going against the Brother Hood will mean the eradication of our species our only option is to run.” Her words were heavy with regret and guilt as though she felt she was the one to blame.
“How did they find us?” Keith asked.
“Same way we find out their information we have spies on both side’s who are as we speak playing a game of cat and mouse where they must find the other spy without being caught themselves.” Danielle’s eyes were cast downwards as she spoke Eva walked up beside Danielle and gently placed her slender hand on her shoulders.
“Keith” Eva called for his attention. “This is my plan, not Danielle’s” she paused as Danielle stormed out of the room a look of depression curling her naturally beautiful face into something heart breaking, he could almost feel her pain for all the lycan’s she’s taken upon her shoulders to care for.
“He thinks we can stop the brother hood, but we needed a field commander when going through the records of the lycan’s present here we saw your military service and wanted you to lead the team.” Her eyes were cold and serious, “We plan to take an elite strike force made up of our best, and hit the brother hood’s HQ first.” She paused to issue a command into a radio she had kept on her wrist “Send them in.”
Keith was quick to notice Logan step through the door his massive werewolf form blotted Keith’s view of the next to enter, it was a slender woman who dressed with a black t-shirt black leather pants combat boots a black over coat, and pair of sunglasses.
Keith’s eyes almost immediately fell to the massive twin blades she wore on her fore arm’s they extended about a foot past her hand’s and seemed to be attached to a mechanism controlled via a device on her palm, allowing her to attract and retract them with a push of a button, Across her back she bore a .50 caliber M82A1 Barrett.
Following her was an average sized man dressed much the same as Hyren, with a white t-shirt black pants and a black coat, his wavy blond hair swept back with his black sun glasses resting on the top.
The man looked much more like a movie star then a soldier, Keith sighed but was content to accept this man into his squad.
The man carried a G36K Carbine across his back and a pair of Mp5A3’s at his hips, why the man needed so many Semi-Autos was beyond Keith’s understanding.
Soon after the man entered, another followed suite. The man was around Keith’s height, he kept his head shaven, his eyes were dark rimmed and blood shot.
He wore a black tank top with black pants, black combat boots and a black overcoat; he kept the hood up, as he turned to face Keith.
On his back he had a HK69A1 40mm Grenade launcher, his skin was a dark tan, and his eyes shone with a white light, around his neck he wore a noticeable two inch shark tooth, almost giving him the impression he would rather be carving waves in Hawaii then going into combat. At his hips sat two Green Beret knives and beside the knife on his right side rested a G36K carbine.
A tall, slender blond woman was last to enter the room her hair was long and wavy her eyes were a deep shade of black while her face was pale. Appearing in the dimly lit room almost as a ghost, she wore no jewelry and had a white t-shirt that must have been three sizes to small she wore a black pair of leather pant’s and again another black over coat, her weapon’s were a pair of katana-like sword’s that she carried on her back, at her hips she carried a pair of desert eagle’s loaded with .50 cal ammunition.
“Going in order they entered the room we got, Logan.” Hyren began introducing them Logan gave another quick nod to Keith.
“And then we got Cathy or sometimes catty. she is our on feild medic and sniper.” He added the last part with a grin that got a small chuckle from some of the members in the room.
“Then we have Marco, he’s from the 1950’s when movies had become a big deal, which may explain his appearance, but he fought in world war two and would be a valuable asset.” Marco combed his hair ignoring his introduction, “Marco!” Hyren snapped, “Show your officer the respect he deserves, Marco gave Keith a mocking salute.
“We’ll work on that.” Keith snarled.
“Then we have Keddir, demolition expert, he’s been a valuable asset in every mission he’s performed, no squad is complete without him.” Keddir gave Keith a friendly wave but his face remained cold and stiff as granite.
“Lastly we have Ruth but everyone calls her ghost, shes a security system expert and computer programmer, she'll hack a surveillance camera with a coat hanger and chewing gum.
Ghost was cleaning her weapon’s stopping briefly to give Keith a friendly smile and a wink, and then going back to polishing her already shiny desert eagle guns.

“I’m leaving now, I might not come back it will be dangerous for you to remain here, once I’m gone I can’t guarantee your safety.” Keith waited for his servant to translate to Kirsten, who listened intently, her face revealed her confusion “Keith can’t I just go with you?” her voice was wavering.
“Kirsten, it’s too dangerous” Keith paused to let out a sigh that sounded loud through his wolf muzzle, whistling slightly on his teeth “I’ve arranged for my servant to smuggle you out of the building tonight, he will stay with you, until you’re completely safe or otherwise killed.”
Kirsten was fighting back tears, although Keith never reciprocated his feeling’s for her she had learned she probably owed him her life, and felt a strange affection for the creature.

The sound of the helicopters blades chopping at the air was working in rhythm with Keith’s heart, thump, thump, thump.
The wind from the rotors blew forcefully ruffling Keith’s grey fur, his piercing eyes looked over his soldier’s, they wore a lot of black, I suppose it will have to do, Keith thought, with malcontent.
Keith had done extensive research on the brother hood’s forward base which would be their first target it was well defended except from the east side where the river ran their defenses seemed to slack of a bit obviously they don’t expect a surprise attack from the river, at least Keith can use that river to get close to the base undetected.

Reaching with his large clawed hand towards the bar’s framing the Helicopter door, Keith climbed on board the motors whirled and the helicopter dipped a bit, before it’s engine adjusted to his weight.
Next to get on was Logan, again the engine whined with the additional weight.
This protesting from the Helicopters silent engine made Keith doubt the integrity of the
SAS NH-90 Stealth helicopter, lycan’s have made a very lucrative amount of money through selling their antiquities from lives they used to live, and in turn can afford pretty much anything they desire, they got bank account’s spread out over hundreds of names combined that create billions.
“Move it people!” Keith barked, causing his squad too practically fly onboard.
They were nervous about going to a mission that was deemed suicide by Danielle who strongly apposed the elder’s decision.
Everyone was cleaning their weapon’s as the Helicopter few silently over tree top’s the only one’s that would have known of the Helicopter’s presence would have to be directly below it as it flew over head, the machine was safe from radar detection and due to a engineering breakthrough in mechanics and aerodynamics it was almost entirely silent.
The lycan’s jumped of the helicopter as it flew, their entrance was quick leaping seventy feet through darkness into the hill side, upon hitting the ground they immediately began inspecting their equipment for damage, everything was secure and operational.
Lycan’s had the ability to see, hear and smell, at hundreds of levels higher then the human’s while in their wolf form, this prompeted Keith to designate Logan, as the mission scout.
“We understand the brother hood may have guards this far out from the outpost in which case I recommend staying with in thought range, they will also have infrared and starlight scopes, everyone check their anti-heat suites, what’s your surface temperature?”
“2 degrees, blue leader” they all responded the same.
“Good. Blue 2 I want you in the tree’s can you manage?” Logan nodded in acknowledgement.
“There is a river bed, their defenses are low from that side we are going to follow it.”
Keith regretted giving a mission briefing while on the mission field but it was the only opportunity.
The team moved slowly along the river, wadding the freezing water. the other's had heat suites that also served to keep them warm on the inside, however Keith felt like he was turning to ice as his limb's numbed from the cold his fur offering only partial protection, however being in the cold water lowered his body temprature allowing him to remain safer from infrared scope's.
Keith threw his hands up when he saw a signal from Logan indicating a enemy patrol was near by, crawling slowly to the side the river climbing up it’s bank Keith saw what Logan had spotted, Keith motioned with his hand for Blue 4 to come to him. Catty did as commanded and wadded through the water up to Keith. Projecting his thoughts silently to her, ready your rifle offer covering fire, if thing’s don’t turn out well. Catty nodded showing she understood as she reached slowly behind her back pulling her sniper rifle out.
Keith climbed slowly onto the dirt and leapt upwards so he was holding onto a tree trunk, same level above ground as Logan, Keith looked over to his comrade, they nodded to each other understanding what they had to do.
Leaping from tree to tree silently, the only noise was a slight scuff as feet slipped on bark that went undetected by the human patroll.
It didn't take long untill they were above the patrolling soldier’s Keith looked back towards Blue 4, who lay on her stomach on the river bank ready to shoot.
The patrol were four soldier’s they looked cold and miserable walking through the forest silently, one lit up a cigarette which was immediately snuffed out by the other’s in the patrol out of fear of being spotted, they were a cautious lot.
Keith motioned with his hand’s which two he will attack and Logan motioned his target’s through a serious of hand sign’s derived from sign language.
Dropping to the ground Keith immediately found his hands on the barrel of one of the soldier’s rifle’s ramming it into the soldier’s face whirling around he grabbed the man that was near the soldier, who seemed to be leading the patrol, the man had reached for his radio, but was to late, as Keith had already ripped the man’s arms off, Keith turned to see the man he hit with the rifle was crawling desperately towards a row of bushes in a vain attempt to flee, Keith stood on the man’s back reaching down with one hand snapped the man’s neck.
Standing up Keith saw Logan playing with a soldier pulling his limb’s off one at a time.
When Logan saw Keith staring at him in a disapproving manner Logan bent over and started whacking the soldier’s legs against his face until the soldier stopped all brain function, Logan shrugged innocently at Keith, as Keith motioned for them to continue towards their objective.
They hastened their speed being slightly less cautious boarding on plain reckless, they practically ran through the forest, they knew that because a patrol had been killed it won’t take the brother hood long until they noticed four of their soldiers have gone radio dead.
The team had an hour at best to reach their objective and destroy their radio before they can relay information back to their HQ.
Keith had climbed over the wall leaving the other’s at the river bed, the sound of foot steps caused Keith to leap into the shadow’s peering down at the wall’s battlement’s Keith saw a guard patrolling along it, his gun was in his hand’s ready but his walk suggested he was not prepared for any kind of attack, Keith was startled when Logan dropped down on the tower next to him, "what are you doing here?!" Keith projected his thoughts at Logan "I wanted to see what you were doing." Logan answered casually.
Keith waited for the guard to turn around before jumping down silently behind the human, With a quick swipe of his claw the man’s throat peeled open, as blood flowed freely. The humans was voice completely severed, this made the gaping whole that his mouth was open wide to perform the man’s silent opera, his dying mute scream.
Keith motioned to Logan to assist Keith with tearing down the radio tower, Logan immediately leapt onto the wall next to Keith the two unusually large lycans wrapped their arm’s around the base of the steel tower, the metal groaned and protested against the werewolf might, but soon it gave way, prompting attention from some of the bases more allert guards.
An alarm sounded and at that moment the base became alive, bullet’s whistled through the air with the sound of gun shot’s and the flash’s of muzzle blasts, “Logan get cover,” Logan didn’t have to be told he had already leapt behind a concrete wall. Keith was searching for a vantage point when he felt something hot hit his arm, pain flooded through his body, he looked at his arm as a metallic substance oozed from it like thick blood, “they got mercury tipped shell’s!” Keith yelled as he felt his arm going numb, he fell to the ground and looked over the wall at his squad they were running through the darkness, they kept to the shadow’s making it difficult to be seen with every movement Marco and Catty lay down covering fire for Ghost and Keddir who did the same for their squad member’s in return allowing the team to advance on human soldiers location with relative ease, they were truly far better trained then Keith expected. Almost every shot they made hit a target, Keddir had his grenade launcher out and fired it at a human hiding behind a barricade their was a soft explosion and two human’s ran out fully engulfed in flames.
Keith grimaced as he looked at his arm it wasn’t healing and the numbness was spreading.
Catty leapt over a barricade a series of human’s were currently reloading unprepared for this woman that just leapt amongst them, she swung her blades down opening arteries and throat’s quickly and efficiently, she dispatched the three soldier’s.
It wasn’t long until the soldier’s fell back inside the main entrance to the building they had positioned themselves strategically, at door corners etc this gave Keith a plan, "Keddir, Ghost, Marco stay here Catty Logan come with me" Keith barked.
The one’s who stayed behind kept taking pot shots of at the entrance way exchanging misses with the human’s Keith was confident the distraction was working as they worked their way to the side the building.
Keith held tightly onto his arm unsure of what to do about the poison in hit, ignoring the pain Keith rammed himself into the wall, "Logan come help" Keith ordered through clenched jaw's the pain was burning through Keith's body increasing with every failed attempt to break through the wall.
Logan leapt at the wall with Keith, the pairs combined might was more then the walls match, it wasn’t long until the steel reinforced concrete crumbled and the noise of their entry got the human’s attention who now realized they were surrounded.
In the brief moment they were distracted by Keith’s entry Marco and Keddir took the chance to get a few kill’s.
The human’s were rapidly loosing soldiers, Keith motioned for Catty to go first then Logan then Keith followed up the rear, down the narrow hallway, Catty leapt into combat the moment the human’s came into view, Keddir also came charging down the hallway with his G36K in his hand’s shooting quickly and efficiently. Once all the enemy forces had been eradicated they began searching the building for useful information, weapon’s anything that the human’s left behind, that could be remotely useful.

Marco came walking up to Keith his foot steps hinted his reluctance, his gaze was unsteady and nervous “Sir, Ghost attempted to by pass their security system’s on the computer’s but she slipped up and now the hard drive’s are blank, all the information the human’s had stored on them was destroyed, she’s currently working on retrieving as much information as possible but it’s not likely we’ll get anything.”
“Is that all soldier?” Keith asked his temper bubbling below the surface ready to erupt. Marco answered “no sir, it gets worse. There was also a cell phone call made during our attack, we are currently searching for the location of the human contacted, but because no one will answer the other line, it’s close to impossible, sir.”
Keith made a loud audible sigh that whistled on his fang’s, almost undermining his serious attitude, “Jesus fucking Christ can’t anything go right?” Keith mumbled as Catty worked on Keith’s wound.
“Alright everyone, fall in” Keith commanded, as everyone except Catty dropped what they were doing to assembled in front of Keith.
“Today’s mission was a successful we had no casualties, and no sever wounds.
However this was the easy part, there was only thirty one human’s posted in this outpost our next target has hundred and fifty, and there is a strong possibility our attack’s anonymity has been compromised, so we have to attack knowing we might not have the advantage of surprise this time.” Keith paused letting the squad process the information, “If you want to pull out now, you can.” Keith stared at his squad his eyes were unblinking and everyone stared back, shuffling their feet you could feel their insecurity in the air itself, then to no ones surprise Logan spoke. “I’ll tear their throats out on my own if I have too, I’m with you pup.” He said pup with a cheeky wink.
Logan’s words seemed to inspire the other lycan’s in the room who lifted their weapons and cheered saying brave words, to inspire themselves and each other.
“Then it’s settled we will attack tomorrow at 0430 hour’s, rest up people.” Keith sat on the human bed, in an empty bunker, his eyes looked around he could see a picture of the men who died there’s loved ones.
Keith turned his head so his eyes weren’t facing a photo of a man he saw get decapitated by Logan’s claws. The man was hugging his wife and child.
Keith eye’s no fell upon a table with a deck of card’s a whew glasses of whisky and cigarette butts complimented the poker chip’s, a few cigar’s still smoldered away hinting at what the men were doing, when they began their attack on the base, and Keith was reminded how human, these men were.
This feeling of guilt and regret made Keith feel like his body weighed twice as much in a matter of second’s and slowly the world faded away as Keith closed his inhuman eyes.

Keddir came charging into the room, his hands wrapped around a radio, “sir it’s for you” he said his voice was loud with excitement.
“This is Keith here” the other end of the radio was silent then a woman’s voice spoke “Keith, it’s Eva copy?”
Keith sighed “Copy that, what is it you need to tell me?”
“Keith, our spy has just informed us, the brother hood head quarters was attacked at approximately 0730 hour's, there were few survivors, the survivors however are retreating back to Italy, there is no confirmation on the size of the force that attacked or who they were... Keith we might have an unknown ally in this war, but we can't be sure of their intention's until they make themselves known to us, come back to the castle for your debriefing." the line went dead after Keith gave his acknowledgement of the message.

Everyone in the squad assembled at Keith, it was close to midday and they were all still tired, “We’ve been given orders to return to the castle. That is all.”
Everyone looked at each other questioningly the sound of shuffling feet radiated through the room, as everyone scuffed their heel's along the carpet, a characteristic picked up from their human lives showing their confusion, and indecisiveness, as they tried to understand what had changed.

chapter Four

Keith was in his bedroom sitting on the floor often forgetting he has a tail now, and that would get caught often in doors closing behind him. Keith looked at Kirsten then pointed to the fridge, “Mm food?” Keith shook his head to say no, “No thank you then, I’m not thirsty”
Keith heaved his huge shoulders upwards to do a shrug accidentally bumping a book shelf, causing more then a few novels to fall to the ground, ignoring the mess Keith walked over to the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water turning around as the door closed he felt a tug and realized he caught his tail in the fridge door, which unfortunately sealed like a safe. Tugging desperately with his free hand on his tail praying the fridge wont come with it he jerked forward’s stumbled and spilt his drink on Kirsten who thought this whole ordeal was funnier then what she was watching on t v.
Should I ask, I may as well The thoughts echoed to Keith they radiated from the woman which perked his attention “Am I going to become a werewolf?” Kirsten had worked out she can only ask Keith yes or no questions Keith shook his head to show he meant no. “Oh” Kirsten didn’t even try to hide her disappointment but revealed she wasn’t surprised by the answer.
“So are you always like this?” the woman asked shyly, as if not sure if it’s an appropriate question, Keith just looked back at her questionably “like a werewolf I mean” she continued, Keith shook his head to say no, and the woman wondered how long he’s been a werewolf but understood he couldn’t answer.
Keith wondered back to the window trying to block the woman’s thoughts from entering his head.

There was a sharp knock at the door to disturb Keith from his dream like state marching from the window towards the door he was greeted by a human dressed in servant uniform “Erm’ master Sutherland, Lady Prestor had requested your presence in the dojo.” The butler turned around and walked briskly towards the stairs.
As Keith stepped out the door he quickly looked back at Kirsten in a vain attempt to show he will come back, shutting the large oak door behind himself, mindful of his tail Keith looked for indication’s of some kind of dojo after walking around for what seemed an eternity he came across a gym, decorated with weapon’s and robes inside was Danielle and Logan, Danielle had a pair of double bladed axes she seemed to hold with ease they were only a foot long but the combined length of the blades was also almost a foot long and looked extremely heavy she took a swing at Logan with her right hand weapon, the lycan's large left hand fist stopped the axe blade at the base where Danielle was holding it at blinding speed, Danielle remained calm as she sent her right foot into Logan’s arm, with enough time to free her hand and make another swing for Logan’s neck, Logan ducked back narrowly avoiding the blade, Logan kicked out which hit Danielle squarely in the chest, the audible sound of the wind being knocked out of the woman could be heard echoing through the room, as Danielle flew through the air Logan was on his feet, out of his combat stance and breathing much easier.
“Ah, Logan you bested me again, and this is the only reason why I choose to keep you as a friend” she said with a laugh and there was a huffing noise as Logan laughed too.
“You can come in now Keith our match is over, Keith entered embarrassed he thought they were to busy to notice him there.
“In combat we are always mindful of our surroundings Keith, even where we feel safest” Danielle spoke like she had given these sorts of instructions before.
“Keith pay attention Logan will be your instructor today... I’m sorry.” before Danielle left she turned around and apologized with a grin plastered on her face, for what? Keith directed his thoughts too Danielle hoping to get her attention however she had already walked too far.
There wasn’t so much as a sound when he felt like his head was almost knocked off, his eyes shut as the room spun and stars flashed in his eyes, first thing Keith noticed was he was still standing, snarling he turned to face his assailant “that was a dirty shot, I wasn’t prepared!” Keith snapped through wolf teeth then Logan spoke.
“First rule: Always be prepared.” Keith was surprised he could understand the lycan tongue.
The second Logan stopped speaking the words that left his muzzle, he launched another attack at Keith using his left hand, he swiped towards Keith’s head again, Keith put his right arm and deflected the shot following through with his left hand aiming for Logan’s chest, to Keith’s surprise Logan had grabbed Keith’s right arm with his meaty left fist, the arm that Keith used to block and spun Keith in a anti-clockwise direction, taking Keith of his feet and sending him hard into the wall.
“Second rule: Always be mindful of an opening; never take your eyes of a single part of your opponent that will get you killed.”
Keith was furious now, he ran up to Logan and swung his left fist that Logan caught and tried to follow through with a left hand blow to Keiths muzzle, Keith bit the fist when it got close, he saw the shudder of pain echo through Logan’s body like shock waves in a pool of water.
Logan made the mistake of letting go of Keith’s hand, with his left arm free he swung again at Logan.
Keith anticipated the same dodge he used with Danielle, and spun about Logan so Keith was now at Logan’s back as Logan leant backwards, Keith brought his knee up into the back of Logan’s head with all the force he could muster sending the large beast face first into the ground in front of him.
Keith had already begun replaying his victory in his mind when he felt his leg’s get kicked out from under him.
“That was well executed but you forgot the second rule” Logan snarled as jumped to his feet, Keith did the same, Logan attacked at Keith again, swinging his right fist towards Keith’s chest Keith blocked it but was met by Logan’s large wolf paw like foot in his face, Logan had done it with such speed he disguised his kick behind his punch so it hit Keith while he was completely unprepared for it.
Sprawled on the ground again Keith looked up at Logan who was currently air born as he leapt through the air to deliver a devastated blow.
Keith rolled out of the way just in time as the fist slammed into the ground where he just was, Logan’s eyes didn’t move from the spot Keith had been lying but his left foot slammed into Keith again, and Logan was quicker this time, on his feet and chasing Keith as Keith fell through the air.
A feeling like a sledge hammer hit Keith in the stomach slamming him into the ground, Logan stood over him as he kicked Keith below the muzzle snapping his head back. “Okay pup you’ve had enough I’ll see you tomorrow and we’ll go over the basics, this was just to see the level you are at, it’s not bad from pup, but we can improve.” Logan turned and left the dojo with long easy going strides, he was the same size as Keith, and perhaps slightly stockier but his foot steps sounded so light and quiet, yet another puzzle.
“So how did it go?” Keith looked up at Danielle,
“He beat the shit out of me” Keith was also testing if Danielle would understand him, and not unsurprisingly she did.
“Well least he likes you.” Danielle said with a warm smile.
“Yeah? It didn’t feel like it when he was kicking the shit out of my head.” Keith retorted. Keith’s bruised ego took far longer to mend then the bruises brought on by swift well timed kicks and punches.
Danielle thought something Keith said was funny, she was laughing “he was holding back though!” she left while her laughter still echoed through the mansion.

“That took a while.” The human woman commented as Keith barged down the door, his angry mood radiating from him, he stormed to the fridge saw nothing in it he wanted and out of frustration slammed the fridge door, throwing the fridge back through the wall, letting out a angry growl at his accident, turned to sit heavily on the bed at the point he made contact the bed leg’s broke from the strain and it fell to the floor with a heavy thud. Cursing in his lycan tongue stormed out of the room with his bed under his arm’s and returned moments later with someone else’s. He carefully lay down on the bed it creaked and protested but did not give way, a few hours later someone yelled, from the dark recesses of the mansion’s hallways “who broke my bed?!”
Keith turned on the t v to watch the news Kirsten joined him, lying on the bed next to him she looked up “are you always going to be in your wolf form?” she spoke softly as she placed one arm behind her head so she could better see the t v. her eyes drifted over to Keith so she could see his answer, Keith turned his eyes towards Kirsten, he tried to say through expression he doesn’t know but his face was hard to read, since it was the face of a over sized wolf and not that of a mans.
“I guess you don’t know then.” She said slightly disappointed, and then she noticed Keith nodding enthusiastically, thus confirming her suspicion.
“It’s funny I don’t even know your name or what you look like, err’ well your human form anyway, but I feel like I know you.” Keith ignored the strange woman’s attempt to flirt it’s not that he wasn’t interested; far more important thing’s weighed heavily on his mind.
It was obvious to Kirsten the lycan had chosen to ignore her, and that suited apart of her just fine but the creature fascinated her and this made her more curious. Kirsten slid closer along the bed to Keith she grabbed one of his massive arm’s snuggling her face into his fur she commented how warm he felt and slowly dozed of to sleep, Keith chose to ignore Kirsten, and in turn let himself fall asleep, even in his dream state he somehow felt mindful not to squash the fragile woman lying next to him.

Keith had been living in this mansion for three month’s now, he had grown quite accustomed to the life style, meal’s were always prepared every want he had was fulfilled except the want to become human again, on site doctors had looked Keith over many times and decided it was nothing but an accident of nature, that he should return human any day now, which was little comfort Keith felt like he was trapped.
Kirsten had become a good friend to Keith someone whom he could listen to talk all day, perhaps the other lycan’s had a superiority complex but they always acted like they were better then Keith, Keith soon learned that Logan got similar treatment, from the other werewolves.
Keith was catching on quickly he learned that every lycan is created with a unique ability to their blood line Logan’s was foresight, which suggest that he was related to Danielle who also possessed unusual foresight, they will often see thing’s happen roughly fourteen seconds ahead of time, boarding on precognition, giving them the ability to react faster then any other’s of their kind.
However these ability’s don’t tend to manifest themselves until the lycan is exceptionally old close to a thousand years.

Chapter 3

Keith had woken up after falling asleep over the long car ride, he was at a country villa it was almost a town in itself the building was massive four floors above ground that seem to span the size of four city blocks, “this is one of the safe houses,” Danielle spoke about it like it was just a casual little motel room.
“Okay, who owns it?” Keith couldn’t keep the awe out of his voice.
“You’re with her right now” she said with a grin, her pride erupting to the surface, it was clear to Keith that her previous attitude about the building was just an act.
Keith fell silent lost for words, following Danielle towards the front entrance, as if in a trance. The door man greeted the girl in a warm manner, “Ah duchess, how nice of you to return. Have you had enough of the city?” he spoke in a manner which suggested his brain function only permitted small talk.
“Duchess?” Keith mumbled under his breath.
“Is my room prepared? And send someone around to destroy that piece of trash I arrived in.” she spoke with absolute authority, that air head girl Keith first met was just a play put on by this woman.
“At once madam” The door man said with a pronounced bow, it was really as though Keith walked through a time portal to the 17th century, the entrance hall was sparse with a twin pair of marble stair cases climbing in a slightly curved manner, the hand rails were white wooden pegs adorned with gold hand rails, the stair way’s extended to the balcony which began the second floor these repeated themselves until reaching the fourth floor, where the ceiling was finally met, the ceiling was decorated with a Michael Angelo Sistine Chapel replica and hanging from the end of god’s finger was a chandelier that had about fourteen layers of prismatic crystals and gold.
Keith had begun following Danielle up the rich red carpet draped over the clean marble steps, leading to the 4th floor.
Danielle put a key into a large oak door which was also painted white, her slender hand reached for the golden door knob and turned it slowly, pushing the door open she was relieved to see everything as she left it, it has been after all twenty two years since she last slept in this room.
The drapes over the window dulled the light a slight bit reducing the harsh almost direct afternoon sun into nothing more then a warm orange glow, the bed was larger then any bed Keith had ever seen it was also taller, the sheets were above Keith’s hip height and he wasn’t a short man.
He looked around and saw no light bulbs, or anything electronic.
“Do you have electricity?” Keith asked nervously Danielle ignored him as she handed out directions, telling him when and where dinner is served, where the bathroom is, certain rules, how to find the t v where they kept the vehicles and motor bikes where the boat shed is where to find the gym spa and pool, and anything else Keith could possibly desire, and to not be afraid to mingle with the crowed. You will also be sleeping in here with me.” She spoke bluntly like she was mentioning any ordinary and obvious thing to the man.
“What?” Keith could hardly believe what he heard; “if it will make you happy” he said his grin fighting desperately to surface.
“It’s not like that, it’s only so I can keep an eye on you.” She spoke slightly irritated.
“Can’t you just have a guard posted at my door and a camera above my bed?” Keith didn’t know why he was saying this they seemed like obvious logic but sleeping in the bed with Danielle seemed far more pleasant.
“Where’s the fun in that” she said with a cheeky wink. Sleeping that night wasn’t as peaceful as he expected the house was sound proofed more then a recording studio, but even so Keith’s hearing has been going crazy he could hear a pin drop a mile away, and it doesn’t help matters that a building with three hundred or so werewolves does get a bit noisy during the night, and to further Keith’s annoyance the Duchess as he has come to know her by, refuses to do anything other then sleep soundly with four feet of space between them.

Keith awoke to Danielle sliding out of the bed her soft feet lightly touching on the ground, turning her head she noticed Keith looking at her, “sorry did I wake you?” she asked in a strangely caring tone… “Never mind actually, it’s your fault for being such a light sleeper” she said cheekily with a bit of a laugh.
“So where do we go from here?” Keith was looking for answers to questions he didn’t think he would ever have, but was waiting for them to answer themselves the idea of asking about werewolves seemed too crazy, too surreal, to ridiculous.
“Well… you Mr. are going to go to the shower because you stink” she said playfully pretending to wave a bad stench away from her nose.
“Maybe, if you would come join me?” Keith spoke trying his best to appear sexy and seductive.
“Keep dreaming Keith, because it won’t happen in this life time.” She said between grins and giggles.

The hot water streamed down Keith’s back he has been tense for far too long.
So much has happened in the last few days too much for him to understand in one go.
Looking at his hands he noticed they seemed tougher then usual like the skin was thicker it may have been the lighting but his skin seemed darker also, then his nail’s they were pointed and black, thick like claws growing so fast Keith could see them extending
Oh god, it’s really happening Keith thought fearfully to himself as he prayed he was wrong praying that it was only a dream.
Keith’s bones crunched and groaned as they extended and morphed growing thicker for the additional weight of the body, reinforcing itself for high physical demand that the powerful new muscles the body was growing could exert.
Keith could hear the bones in his skull grind and reshape as his jaw extended out and was amazed that he could not feel it, he felt hot, but that could be because he was standing inside a hot shower, but he also could not feel the water.
Keith looked into the mirror to see a creature from a nightmare staring back at him, its sharp golden eyes locked directly on Keith, he could see every detail every short strand of fur that sprouted from what must have been his cheeks and he even had whiskers.
Keith was staring into the mirror at the face of a wolf that looked large enough to bite a horses head off in one go, opening his mouth he could see his new teeth, they looked well proportioned for his size like wolves teeth except for an additional pair of canines which sat over his normal pair they were three times as large and appeared more like daggers then canines.
Keith’s huge black meaty hands reached towards the door that suddenly seemed half its size, Danielle?
The soft morning light that filtered through the curtain seemed harsh and painful to Keith’s light sensitive eyes it like their was a spot light pointing directly in his face, shielding his eyes with one hand as his other clumsy hand tried franticly to find the blinds.
Frustrated Keith slammed the bathroom door forgetting for a moment he was a lot stronger then a human the door was thrust from its hinges and ended up resting half way through the wall parallel to the bathroom entrance.
Keith tried to call out but his voice wouldn’t operate he could think of the words to say but it was like his tongue couldn’t wrap around the words and his lips were no help either.
Calling her name came out more as an unintelligible noise ‘Roarrelll’ Keith tried to call Danielle’s name again concentrating all his effort on forming the word but to no avail.
Upon hearing the noise of the door’s accident Danielle made a hasty entry back to her bedroom, “Ah Keith, yes I thought this might happen sometime soon. Dim the lights please” she spoke into the phone on her dresser and she could see the hall outside her room darkened, “C’mon Keith your going to be late for breakfast” she said casually as she left the room.
Keith couldn’t understand how strange things had become this girl never made any sense at any level to him, she did not seem to notice the bathroom door at all even though Keith was certain she would have seen it, and she’s invited him to breakfast despite his current state like it was nothing.
Keith followed the sent of food and Danielle to a glorious banquet hall that dwarfed the entrance hall in terms of grandeur. “Keith!” a voice called from inside the feeding commotion of hundreds of hungry beings.
Following the sound of the voice Keith found Danielle looking out the window at people lounging about like they didn’t have a care in the world.
“Their human Keith, they come here on their own free will some think we’re gods and worship us as such, and some perhaps just as deluded and foolish think we will make them one of us, mostly to further their own selfish and evil goals.
They don’t realize they are simply a food source, they are stupid people they are no-body’s go Keith grab your Breakfast otherwise you will have to wait until noon.” She spoke all this very bland and ended it with a wink.
This raised so many questions Keith wanted answered immediately but was unable to form the words in his current form, he walked out the entrance immediately all the eyes fell on him, they weren’t afraid of the massive werewolf lumbering towards them, these wretched creatures really had no idea what their fate actually was.
Keith grabbed a woman who appeared in her mid twenties, she grinned as he looked back towards her companions.
The woman said nothing but Keith could almost feel her thoughts enter his mind. Finally it’s my turn to join them. Keith was certain this voice in his mind was actually the woman’s thoughts, but unsure of what the woman meant by ‘join them.’
Was I mind reading? Just more questions to badger Danielle with when he’s returned back to normal again.

Keith wrapped his large hand around the woman’s waist, picking her up with one arm she fell limp, her eyes were closed, and her breathing was deep, Keith turned to see what other’s were doing most were in their human forms eating steaks and burgers and even what seemed to be bacon and eggs on toast, still carrying the woman around like she was an oversized toy, he walked into other rooms.
Keith saw a werewolf who size matched Keith’s, his arms were as thick as a gorillas but he wore old ragged bandages on them that reached the elbows where they became unraveled and too torn to hold together.
His fur was black and shaggy perhaps it was a sign of age when Keith looked over himself his fur was short with streaks of silver, through the dominant grey, he also noticed on the other werewolf a vertical scar running along its head beginning just behind the right ear and following forwards along to its eyebrow then continuing an down the cheek bone.
The weathered shaggy looking werewolf acknowledged Keith and with an annoyed grunt turned away towards its breakfast, a man sat on a chair his face was blank, and Keith watched as the werewolf grabbed the mans body with his left hand as his right tore the man’s off with about as much consideration as peeling a piece of fruit, the man screamed his distant and blank expression was one of human horror as he turned pale, blood pooling on the ground, the shaggy werewolf drew the man’s limb up to its mouth and began chewing the meet from its bones and when it was finished, plucked more of the man’s limbs, the man kept crying and begging for help as he was pulled apart, his face contorted in agony that was inhuman, until he fell unconscious from either shock or blood loss.
Reminded of the human Keith was carting around in his right hand he looked down at the woman, who’s skin had gone pale and hair was wild, her eyes were wide which her mouth followed suite, a look of pure horror upon her face, she noticed Keith’s sharp golden eyes staring at her and she began to thrash fully aware of her fate, tears streamed down her cheeks, “please let me go, I won’t tell anyone what I’ve seen please let me go” she begged and cried, Keith could only stare at the woman as her tears dried and she could only whimper in defeat, then her horror and will to live fueled anger, and she vainly attempted to attack Keith swinging her fists and hitting his sides and kicking valiantly but couldn’t maneuver her legs to hit him. Keith turned his attention from the thrashing terrified woman, to the scar face werewolf, who stared back at Keith just an exchange of looks, without words but a conversation took place. The other werewolf asked Keith why he wouldn’t kill the woman, and Keith had asked the other werewolf why he chose to eat that man alive. And both questions went unanswered it would be a topic brought up in later conversation.

Keith ducked as he walked through the door frame, every door had been widened and the height adjusted to fit the size of the bulky creatures, yet they were still a few inches too short for Keith’s massive form, Keith had grown into an unusually large and muscular werewolf compared to other’s on the premises which earned him a strange kind of respect in awe and suspicion from the other werewolves, or lycans as they are sometimes call themselves in a strained effort to be more dignified.
Keith saw Danielle in the dining hall talking to some important looking figures who dressed and moved like they could have been heads of state and politicians, aside from the fact they were so young, when Keith thought about it almost everyone he saw seemed to be in their early twenty’s.
Danielle was wearing a black cocktail dress with a slit on the right leg that almost reached her hip, it had a deep V neck that exposed much of her cleavage, she had taken off her jewelry except for the pair of green diamond ear rings that looked like they could have cost nine million, each, and wore some dark rich red lipstick that looked more like blood then anything else, perhaps it was, Danielle didn’t look like a girl anymore she looked like a powerful and respectable woman.
Danielle’s eyes looked up from her companions she seemed irritated by Keith’s presence and more so with the creature he carried in his right arm.
The other men followed her gaze towards Keith, stopping their conversation but otherwise looking completely unbothered.
Storming up to Keith with her right arm out her fingers hooked ready to grab or punch her rage barely held in check by her desire to appear presentable.
“What are you doing here?” she hissed at Keith her voice dripping with venom.
“I couldn’t bring myself to… eat” Keith said embarrassingly forgetting he couldn’t actually form the words in his current situation, distracted by Danielle’s transformation into a woman, who was considering tearing Keith’s head off.
Danielle sighed, “Im sorry Keith you couldn’t have known, go wait for me in the kitchen I’ll be there when my meeting is finished.” And with those words still lingering in the air she had returned to her guests with a pathetically apologetic look on her face.

Keith still in his wolf form walked back to the kitchen, the woman had ceased her thrashing and whimper’s only to look distressed, depressed and hopeless, Keith sat the young woman down on the bench.
She looked up into Keith’s eyes, her eyes were red and blood shot from tears.
I thought I would become one, but does he plan to eat me like that beast ate George? The woman’s lips didn’t move but Keith heard her thoughts clearly as if the woman spoke them.
Keith wanted to convey his sympathy for his food, he had no desire to actually ‘eat’ this woman, and was unable to tell her this, to her he wasn’t human he was a blood thirsty beast, and inside Keith still felt as though he was human, everything had changed so quickly so fast, it caused his head to spin.
Keith reached his hand up behind the terrified woman who seemed to cower at the movement as she expected an horrific and painful end, Keith offered her a reassuring pat on the back instead except he patted to hard sending the woman sprawled to the ground winded and gasping for air, Keith let out an apologetic grunt as if to say sorry.
Keith was looking around the kitchen he noticed a piece of raw meat waiting to be cooked lunging towards it he began chewing on it merely, much to the chef’s dismay.
Keith hadn’t realized how hungry he was until he began eating this meat the blood tasted metallic and bitter but something inside him craved it, looking around the kitchen for more he saw the door to the freezer bounding in long strides towards the door, forgetting the human woman who was slowly crawling towards the exit on her hands and knees.
The chef attempted to halt Keith but was dispatched quickly by the hungry lycan; Keith immediately began chewing on the hanging carcass’s ignoring that they resembled human bodies driven by an overwhelming need to eat.
Danielle barged into the room, her angry glare had not subsided from last they met or at least was renewed by Keith’s uncivilized behavior.
“This meat is for guests Keith.” Her tone snapped Keith back to reality and he felt ashamed of his behavior.
Keith was marched out of the freezer back towards the kitchen followed by a very cross Danielle and grateful chef, it was at that point Keith noticed the woman had left the spot that he put her and franticly began scanning the room, Danielle noticed the behavior “Well Keith you better go find her then.” She said with smirk.
It wasn’t long before he found the woman, she was in the human quarters telling some people about what she saw, most were too naive to believe what she was talking about however some seemed to trust her, and became frightened themselves.
Keith walked slowly up to the woman, she heard his heavy footsteps and shrieked in horror as she ran to the back of the room, Keith ignored this behavior and kept his slow trudge, when he reached the woman he let out a deep sigh and gently picked her up, she had begun to cry again and called to her friends for help but they could only stare, no one dared stand up to a werewolf for fear of repercussions.

Keith was in the entrance hall with the woman held firmly by his right arm, he waited patiently for Danielle to find him, he knew if he stayed in one place long enough she will come to him, it was an apparent law of the universe.
Keith spotted Danielle just as he planned and in long strides easily caught up with her, the woman in his arm’s had resided to her fate as some kind of baggage to be carried around by this lycan, “What is it you want Keith, and why do you always carry that thing with you?” Keith was thinking hard on what he wanted to say and just as though Danielle could hear his thoughts she spoke “give it time, you should return to normal and as for that human, its only food” she again used her condescending tone to Keith, which made him feel like a child in front of this woman, who belittled him at every chance.
“C’mon then Keith, I’ve prepared your own room, theirs no hidden surveillance I trust you to spot all the camera’s on your own.” She said with a sly wink.
Keith entered a room that appeared just like Danielle’s it was almost an exact replica except the bathroom door was still attached.
Keith placed the agitated woman on the end of his bed as he moved to the window, to inspect the view.
“Oh… I understand why you carry that thing with you, I don’t know why I expected you to be above that sort of thing, or at least chosen one of your own species, but it’s not unheard of, I’ll leave you two love birds alone then” Danielle spoke sarcastically as she turned to exit the room, Keith wanted to tell her it wasn’t like that but only came out as garbled growls and what could almost be described as barks.
Embarrassed Keith began scanning the room for the camera’s that Danielle spoke off and all he saw was a webcam on his computer which he quickly threw in the trash.
Returning to the window Keith saw a tennis court where what could have been the two world’s best players going head to head, they were flying over that court at incredible speed and the ball was nothing but a green blur.
Bored of the window Keith turned and sat on the bed which creaked remembering he must have weighed about as much as a small car returned to standing, as he flicked through t v channels.
The woman that Keith had chosen for breakfast seemed to have gotten over her perpetual fear of being eaten and developed a larger curiosity towards Keith. “My name’s Kirsten” she seemed like was in better spirits and Keith ignored the woman. “I came here while back packing, it’s been about a two weeks I think, at first it was crazy ‘real werewolves’ me and Rachel used to joke, when we found out it was real we came here to see them, they told us if we stayed that we will live forever as one of them, we were skeptical at first but everything was so much nicer then at home we agreed, I’ve been waiting to become one since, and when I saw George get ripped apart I-I…” Rachel stammered as tears welled up in her eyes “will that be me?” she managed to cough the words out as she fought back her emotions.
Keith looked at her for a brief moment his golden wolf eyes were apologetic Keith was going to nod instead found himself shaking his head; the woman gave a loud audible sigh of relief.

Keith had left the woman in his room, the door was locked and hoped that would be enough incentive to keep her there.
“Ah... Keith had enough of your pet?” Danielle was disgusted but after a moment of standing with Keith she realized the truth. “Sorry Keith I got the wrong idea, it’s not the first time that’s happened before you know. No I mean the business with the woman”
Why don’t you make her one of us? Keith formed the sentence clearly in his mind “well that’s because she’s not a lycan, it’s not known by the humans, but you are born a lycan and it’s only after you’re bitten by another of your kind do you become one.”
Why do we eat humans? Danielle took a moment to answer this question “We don’t have to eat them I suppose… but if stop eating human’s all together we will be unable to take their shape again, you will be trapped in your werewolf form like Logan, you met him earlier tearing that human apart, he was held prisoner by human’s used in their experiments. Through Logan they discovered our weakness and what happens if they starve us.”
Danielle paused as she recalled a memory before continuing “As a result he is trapped in his wolf form, and holds a seething hatred for all humans. He chooses to only eat live humans he likes to hear them scream first so he would often torture his food.”
What happened to the people holding him? Danielle looked at her feet then moved to sit on a sofa, “His holding cell was slightly damaged, and the door had not properly sealed, Logan had noticed this slight indication to a weakness, and threw himself against the door with all his might, after a few tries it broke open, tore every one in the lab to pieces inflicting as much pain as was possible to a human without killing them, then leaving them to rot in the darkness as he sealed the exists.” Danielle had finished her sentence with a finality that suggested she didn’t want to speak anymore.

chapter 2

Keith sat at a restaurant table across the street from the star bucks he had arranged to meet the doctor at, dressed casually as to not stand out while wearing a pair of dark sun glasses, peering over a news paper he waited eagerly to see the doctor, his eyes scanned the streets ever vigilant. A noise behind Keith startled him disrupting his attention, a tall man with short spiky black hair, and a thin goatee his jaw line was gaunt making this facial hair seem more prominent then necessary this man actually looked more like he should be doing paintings in a urban loft by day and off beat poetry by night, Keith noticed he was wearing a green blazer and a orange hat.
Keith should have seen him walking up so gears worked through Keith’s mind that because he was looking for a man wearing those clothes he could have simply put on the hat and blazer before he sat down, Keith made an over sight this man knew what Keith looked like, a mistake Keith won’t allow himself in future to make.
The man spoke calmly almost mockingly “Keith, I was your doctor for two weeks although we never officially met you think I wouldn’t recognize you?”
“Okay doctor Shiraz what is so important that you got me out here for?” Keith asked abruptly and to the point.
“Well no small talk around you” he said with a grin. “It’s about the animal attack…” The Doctors voice trailed of as his eyes searching his surroundings for anything suspicious such as people with big ears, interested in hearing what he was talking about.
“As I was saying I believe it wasn’t a bear that attacked you, are you following me so far Mr. Sutherland?”
Keith grew impatient with this doctor’s inability to relay the information that was apparently important to Keith, “Yes, yes, now spit it out already!” Keith snapped with more anger in his voice then he intended.
The doctor appeared to be taken back by Keith’s out burst but a voice in his mind reminded him that he should have expected it.
“Well I do research in an Alaskan research institution, called TRL… ‘Trial Research on Lycanthropy’.” Keith stared at the man his face blank which seemed to morph into anger showing Keith’s frustration “what the hell is Lycanthropy?”
“Werewolves… Mr. Sutherland” the doctor spoke slowly knowing exactly how Keith would react.
“Thank you doctor… if that’s what you really are, for fucking wasting…” Keith’s voice rose almost yelling but reluctant to make a seen kept it within normal levels “… my time!” Keith growled as he stood up from the table and pushed in his chair.
“I am afraid I can’t let you leave Mr. Sutherland” with that sentence three large men stood, they looked like they could be military with the way they moved, wearing black suites and dark sun glasses, surrounded Keith’s obvious escape routes almost immediately.
How could I have not noticed them?! Keith cursed himself feeling more foolish then ever. Keith’s mind has been rather sluggish since he got out of hospital which is not surprising.
The three men advanced on Keith, slowly so they could adjust quickly to cut of any route Keith had to escape.
Keith felt cornered and as such reacted much like a cornered bull. Launching himself towards a man on his left he knocked the man down with speed that surprised even him self.
The other two men reacted quickly and were closing in. Keith was crouching above his victim with his knee in the mans back he prepared to leap up into a full run but one of the other men had already grabbed Keith’s arm and had twisted it forcing Keith to jerk forwards while his arm remained behind him, he felt the muscles in his shoulders constrict his whole body seemed to stop fighting back to avoid damaging itself, people were startled with the commotion a lot of voices and cell phones seemed to be going of about the scene, the doctors voice pierced the commotion.
“Keith I want to help you, just come with us willingly,” The doctor spoke his voice was oozing with false caring, the third man, was already talking into a radio, putting it away as a black van pulled up just out front of the restaurant, men with full camouflage gear, further hinting Keith’s suspicion this was a off record military faction, possibly a militia of some sort.
Keith felt himself being picked up half walking half being dragged by the two men towards the black van, fear was welling up inside.
Keith’s arms seemed to feel as though they were on fire, Keith began to breath hard as the noise about the restaurant became louder, he groaned hardly able to stand the noise, he heard the doctor speak to his men, “He’s turning get him in the fucking van!”
Keith turned his head to look at the doctor who was preparing some kind of needle full of a strange yellow colored liquid, he advanced towards Keith moving quickly “this is to help you calm down.” As the needle got closer Keith suddenly felt like his whole body was burning he threw his left arm forwards the man that was holding his arm flew to the ground hitting his head on a tree, there was a snapping noise and it wasn’t the tree.
Keith was moving fast the other man hadn’t had time to react he only stood there motionless stunned, as Keith spun his left foot behind his right leg swinging his right arm forwards in a anti clock-wise direction the man fell about Keith’s fore arm and right into his waiting fist.
With the man’s neck in Keith’s grasp Keith lifted his arm up and in a super human display of strength he lifted the man in the air and threw him directly towards the ground like he was a rag doll, the soldier’s back broke the cement upon impact.
Keith was panting like a wild animal in a fury, his attention was turned directly towards the doctor, who was standing terrified by this man that just dispatched two highly trained soldiers in a matter of seconds, Keith began to laugh at the doctor, at which moment the sound of sirens began to blare police had finally joined the party.
Keith turned the corner of the restaurant and made as hasty retreat as was possible his adrenaline was pumping through his vein’s it felt like if he could run any faster his leg’s would come off.

“How could you let him escape” the doctor scolded the third man who was perhaps less experienced then his dead comrades.
“Well I didn’t see you doing much, hell you were shaking so much you probably couldn’t even hit him with that needle!” The soldier retorted, knowing the doctor although was important had no military authority over him.
“Just get in the fucking van” the doctor snapped, once he was inside the vehicle that was currently negotiating with the police over jurisdiction.
A soldier looked up towards the furious doctor, the glow of the computer screen radiated over his pale complexion. “We got his address, want us to proceed?” the soldier asked. The doctor was irritated by the prospect of yet another wild goose chase. “Yes. Just fucking get that bastard.”

Keith walked in through the front door sweat pouring of his face, running fifteen miles at a full sprint could do this to even an Olympic athlete.
Keith went straight for his bedroom disturbing his sleeping guest, as he ripped his wardrobe apart reaching for a safe in the back where he kept $52,900 in cash, for emergences he hoped will never be necessary.
Keith’s illegitimate house mate was quick witted, and came to a quick conclusion, “I warned you, Keith I’ve tried to tell you what’s been going on…” She fell silent when she noticed Keith was ignoring every word she said. “Keith!” She yelled trying to get his attention he looked up at her his eyes were dark rimmed and blood shot “I’m just like you, I’ve come to help you” she said in a pleading manner.
Keith snorted “heh, yeah I’ve heard that one before” and he stormed towards the door, the girl was quick extremely quick in almost the blink of an eye she was standing following Keith out the room.
“You may not like it Keith but I’m going with you.”
“No your not you fucking freak, I’m going alone, far away from you and that psycho doctor.”
The girl stayed on Keith’s heals, “You’re a werewolf Keith and so am I, there is more of us then you know, come with me Keith and I can insure your safety and answer any questions that arise” she spoke with a serious tone that was alien to her previous air head bubbly impression that she gave Keith when she first barged in on his life just two nights ago.
“Werewolves aren’t real they are monsters in terrible stories and movies” Keith scoffed like he found a winning piece of logic,
“They are used in stories and movies, but do you ever wonder where those stories originate from. They come from human’s seeing us telling their friends over a pint of ale or going on to write a book, Keith you have seen the proof of our existence, you must come to reality with it.” She spoke calmly, her eyes locked on Keith’s then her expression turned blank her eyes went dull and lifeless, then as quickly as her body became lifeless and dull it returned to it’s normal appearance, “They are here we have to leave now!” Danielle immediately ran towards the back of the house.
She was in the kitchen where there was no windows, ignoring that basic flaw of the houses design she leapt at the wall and too Keith’s surprise broke through the brick fixtures, Keith’s home was part of a unit each home separated by a brick wall, this girl just jumped straight through that barrier like it was glass, “C’mon!” she roared to Keith followed suite, running through wall after wall she came to the end unit and burst through to freedom, they could hear the soldiers following.
“They went through the wall’s target has left the building, we’re in pursuit east bound down Lincoln road”
Danielle ran straight for a car that had stopped at some traffic lights tearing the door of its hinges with a horrible sound of metal being twisted and bent, she threw the unfortunate driver hard onto the other lane, maybe it was Danielle’s intention but the last thing the driver saw was a truck going straight towards his very surprised face.

As Danielle drove like a maniac down highway one, Keith felt he should say something “you shouldn’t drive so fast unless you want the polices attention” she turned her face towards Keith cocking an eye brow, and what do you think a police officer would think if he saw that?” she cocked her head towards the gaping hole that would normally be a door.
“Just slow down I’ve been checking for a tail, it’s safe we should just get of this highway ditch the vehicle I got enough cash to buy a legit one, and we can get to the airport with that.”
“Yeah your right” Danielle spoke with a sigh, as she turned of down a shady neighborhood, she was driving slow looking for a possible replacement car, or sign of police, it was easy to assume the men they were running from were listening to every word the police said on their radios.
She stopped when she saw a 67 Camero with a for sale sign $1,100 “That will do.”
Walking slowly up to the house, Danielle looked back “Keith wait here keep an eye out for anything suspicious” Danielle barked.
Keith sat in the car looking at the mangled mess of the driver’s side door hinges, that girl must be as stronger then ten men, he thought with some awe. His eyes drifted towards the dark entrance of the home, Danielle wasn’t insight but he could hear voices coming from the building.

“Are you the owner of that car out front?” she spoke to the middle aged woman, who was wearing a flower printed night gown and fluffy brown slippers, her hair was done in some plastic hair curlers and had a very unflattering mole on her chin that grew some thick black hairs, in a wheezy smokers voice she replied “Nah, that belongs to my son” with a wheezy hacking cough she left of into the dark bedroom that must have been where she sleeps.
“Are you here about my car” a voice spoke up from behind Danielle she was startled by how silent this man was. She gave a quick confirmation; “it’s a rare beauty” he spoke slyly with a little wink in his eye, “I’ll give you nine hundred for it.” Danielle answered firmly.
“Asking price is eleven hundred, it purrs like a kitten and can go all night” he spoke like he was trying to be seductive as he approached Danielle but the only thing this man has mastered is sleazy, perverted and creepy. Danielle pretended to be afraid, as she backed towards the door, “Fine I’ll pay eleven hundred” but the man had other things in his mind, “mm yeah, I know you will, sexy… but how about a little something like showing me some gratitude for such a good deal” she turned towards the exit but another man had been waiting in the shadows, when they saw her enter the house they already began setting up their little trap, they were salivating like animals as the advanced towards Danielle.
“Okay boys, you got me” she said in a sweet tone, as she let them lock the doors and close the windows.
Those vain attempts that would block of her escape routes will only serve to keep them trapped, she thought with wicked intentions.
The men had closed the blinds darkening the room confident they had her trapped, Danielle’s hair grew wild and unruly as her hands seemed to double in size, her slender fingers became meaty and long to match, as her nails extended rapidly, her muscles swelled and rippled as short brown fur grew from every follicle.
In the poorly lit room the men couldn’t see the transformation being performed by the girl, they could hear bones snap and break like wood being twisted and broken apart, then they became aware of loud breathing, “hey guys turn on the fucking light! And what the fuck is that noise” said one of the men.
“I’m looking for the switch hey what the fuck is thi-“his voice cut short from finishing his sentence followed by a wet thump, then the sound of heavy feet lumbering in a slow threatening manner towards another man.
“Fuck this I'm getting out of here, uh where the fuck is that lock…” there was a slapping sound then another wet sounding thump.
The car owner had fumbled a lighter out of his pocket and held it up only to see a wolves head the size of a bull’s with two golden colored eyes and canine teeth two inches long, but sitting over them were a second pair of canine teeth that sat more like fangs as long as steak knife, curved and wicked looking daggers, were the last images burnt into his mind as they sank into his skull.

Keith turned back towards the house when he noticed the door being reopened. “You get the deed for the car” Keith called out, before he noticed she was wearing some man’s clothes, which certainly served to make her appear less attractive and more noticeable was the fashionable blood decorating her lips some of her hair and her hands “you smell nice today Danielle” Keith said with a grin, there was more truth in it then he intended the smell of the blood was sweet and he almost wanted to ravish Danielle just to taste it.
“Let’s just get in the new car and go.” She spoke coldly obviously something put her in a foul mood, and as if she read what Keith was wondering “they ruined my favorite dress.” Keith didn’t bother asking how her dress got ruined, not because he knew, but because he was afraid to find out.
She opened the driver’s side door to the car “How about I drive?” Keith almost pleaded, she flatly denied Keith and somehow he always complied, something about this girl always demanded his respect.

Chapter One

As Keith tuned out his breathing until the world was silent, he was truly in his own realm. Free from anything his life was giving him to make it more difficult, this isn’t to say Keith found his life difficult he was extremely content and happy, with how his transition from childhood into manhood turned out, how all the pieces of the puzzle that was life, fell into place to create an image Keith could only describe as pleasant, this is perhaps because Keith had always had difficulty relaying emotions he felt into words he could express.
The sun shone through the tree branches it was a glorious morning, the soil was dry still, the forest was eerily quiet, devoid of all animal life, the forest had always been like this since the city sprung up at its doorstep, driving the animals away.

A movement caught Keith’s attention from the corner of his eye, so faint it could have been the wind simply blowing a fern to give the impression there is life outside the local foliage in this dense forest. It was so faint it only warranted moments thought from Keith as he carried on his exercise, Keith heard a noise come from behind him whirling around hoping to spot the culprit expecting to see maybe a hiker or dog that’s escaped the backyard of a near by home.
The surrounding was empty, Keith’s eyes scanned through the forest only to spot twigs ferns trees and other assorted foliage belonging in the picture not a leaf out of place, “must have been the wind” Keith said loudly to himself with a laugh at the cliché phrase.

Keith was walking, more relaxed now, running the image of himself being attacked by some unknown entity shortly after he said the phrase ‘it must have been the wind’ reminding him of cheesy horror flicks, as Keith stepped over fallen tree, a force knocked him to the dirt, sticks and stones found their way driven into soft areas of Keith’s body Keith felt like he was hit by a family sized car he groaned as he tried to lift himself up but his arm collapsed, agony spread like wild fire through his nerves, it must have broke on the fall Keith thought which offered little comfort, as his mind returned to the force that sent him into the ground in the first place, he felt pressure on his lower back, it felt like a horse was standing on him, Keith was a strong man, standing at just over six foot, stocky to medium build he had short grayish hair which didn’t match him as he was only in his mid twenties, Keith’s weathered but clean shaven face grimaced as he tried to move. This force that was pinning him down made Keith seem little more then a young child.

Keith tried to roll over but felt he couldn’t and had little options with his right arm having been put out of commission, realizing it was his right fore arm that was broken Keith painfully propped himself on his elbows he could hear, the animal, breathing, it only stood with its right foot on Keith’s back panting away, as a tendril of slobber dropped down next to Keith’s eye.
“I got to get up” Keith said through gritted teeth trying desperately to fight the weight on his back, the animal on Keith’s back pushed down harder after Keith said it almost as though it understood exactly what Keith had spoken, the panting turned to a huffing noise like the animal was laughing.
A deep throbbing voice spoke with vocal cords not used to being made to form words, “irts ronrily therr wrind” which was followed with more huffing like laughter.
Keith had still forced his body high enough from the dirt to move, while mustering all his might, Keith fell onto his left shoulder the animal standing over him lost it’s balance for a brief moment causing its foot to slip of Keith so it, had a foot on either side of Keith’s body, Keith turned his head to look towards his assailant, only to be greeted by a clawed black fist the size of a basketball flying towards his face accompanied by the sound of an irritated snarl.

Keith awoke the next morning in the forest, the sun was shining through the trees above, and the dirt was dry it must have been close to midday.
A middle aged Asian man and what Keith could only assume was his wife, was standing over Keith, the couple had their camera aimed at him busy taking pictures.
Keith tried to sit up but realized he couldn’t move his eyes became wild as he felt so helpless he tried to speak, to tell the idiotic pair to get help instead of taking his picture he felt humiliated, and frustrated like he was a prisoner, fear gripped his heart.
Keith’s mind was racing now with negative thoughts then as it returned to earth he could feel the horrific pain that gripped his body, Keith was so preoccupied with being humiliated by the tourists, he didn’t even notice the horrible injuries that he must have sustained, his mind was working million miles a minute, as it sped through time to the moment Keith was attacked, yes it was that – that thing.

Keith opened his eyes he wasn’t in the forest anymore the walls were a sterile white as well as the bed sheets and everything else in the room the noise of heart monitors drearily beeping away in the ambient volume, it was unmistakably a hospital. A nurse spied his open eyes and left the room in a hurry, returning shortly with a short frail looking man who must have been in his fifty’s, “Hello my names Doctor Cash Myer” he spoke warmly, “you gave us quite a scare, corporal Keith Sutherland” he spoke as he read the chart on the end of Keith’s bed, the doctor glided up beside Keith as the nurse left to attend another patient in the room.
Holding a small light into Keith’s eyes the doctor spoke again “do you know what day it is, corporal?”
Keith’s eyes were following the light with ease “of course I know its march 25th” as Keith thought about it, something seemed slightly off but he couldn’t put his finger on it. “You know you have been in a chemical induced coma for over two weeks now, and you were spot on…” The doctor looked around the room for any indication of the date, when his search turned up hopeless he left muttering words incredible and how did he know? The doctor must have left to go in search for the nurse.

Keith woke again the next day the horrible taste of cream chicken and mushroom soup lingered in his mouth, hospital food… Keith thought with borderline disgust. Doctor Myer had entered his room again “I see you’re awake, corporal” the doctor seemed to end his sentence there but as an after thought continued “you don’t mind if I call you corporal… do you?”
“Keith will do fine, doctor” the doctor made a faint attempt at a grin “well you can call me Cash then”
The doctor checked the charts again, “well two weeks ago, you were found unconscious in the base of mount thresher forest by a group of tourists, your injuries are consistent with a bear attack or maybe lion, and we contacted the authority’s to check with the zoo for any missing animals. You almost died on the operating table, and frankly I find it difficult to hide my shock with the speed you’re recovering,” he paused as he checked beneath Keith’s bandages. Muttering words under his breath, Keith could make out amazing and impossible, between breaths and scientific jargon.
“I suppose it was your immaculate physical condition that helped you pull through, any other man would have surely perished.” The doctor spoke almost as though he was a fan, speaking about his favorite super star.
Keith’s mind was burning circles in his head again as he fought to remember what happened to him, more his mind replays the event more certain he is that it wasn’t a bear attack. The doctor was messing with Keith’s I.V drip as he spoke again “we had to consult doctors who spent time in northern America to decide your treatment, as I am sure you’re well aware, our country has no bears out side of the zoo.” Keith remembered being hit in the head before waking up in the forest, but he didn’t remember anything more severe then a few cracked ribs and a broken arm, looking over himself he realized just to what extent he was injured, he looked like he had been mauled by something ferocious like a pack of wolves or a large predator.

The pain Keith had been feeling over the past few days had subsided with the exception of that hospital food taste that lingered even in the air itself, Keith actually felt incredibly well, propping himself up on his elbows then lifting himself into a upright position, he began stretching his limbs excepting them to be limp and sore they felt strong and full of energy, Keith has been awake for five days now and he is no longer such a novelty to his doctor.
Keith was feeling fantastic and reached for the needle in his arm pulling it out carefully, it didn’t bleed, Keith couldn’t help but find this strange, careful not to attract any attention Keith began breaking the casts that decorated his arms and legs, they broke apart easily, standing on his legs for the first time in weeks he couldn’t believe how good they felt maybe hospital food really is incredible Keith mused to himself, as he pondered his remarkable recovery.

Keith left the hospital with relative ease, no one was looking for him and the clothes he found in a closet near his bed fit perfectly. When Keith returned to his apartment he changed into clothes he felt far more comfortable in, wearing a white button dress shirt and blue pair of jeans, Keith sat down on his chair reaching for the phone dialing in a nine digit number.
“It’s Corporal Keith Sutherland here- no I left this morning- no this morning-
look I want to go back onto active duty- I am aware I almost died- yes it was only three weeks ago- I'm fine now I’ll do my tests when I pass then I’ll be reinstated- its not an order it’s a suggestion- okay thank you, yes thank you… good bye” Keith put the phone down his face threatening to reveal a smile.

A ring of the door bell stirred Keith from his victorious day dream over his phone battle with the army office. Who could possibly know im here… Keith wondered this as he opened the door, to his surprise was a beautiful college aged girl she looked about nineteen years old with auburn hair and sharp green eyes, her cute face had freckles dotting her upper cheeks and the bridge of her nose, they were an attractive type of freckles very gentle and cute, she had no reason to hide them behind blemish and other assortments of cosmetics, her ears were pierced in several places with assorted platinum studs and rings, her lips were painted a glossy rich red colour, and a tattoo of a wolf head on her neck right below her left ear, she wore a black blouse over a black singlet with a black miniskirt, she had black combat boots that went half way to her knee, and assorted black bands with steel spikes adorning her wrists.

“Can I help you?” Keith said trying hard to not appear standoffish or annoyed with the girl, the girl seemed to ignore what Keith said, responding like she was an old friend,
“my names Danielle but my friends just call me Danny” she said as she bounded past Keith into his home, “wow I love your apartment” she spoke like a child in a candy store, Keith could have stopped her from entering easily but wasn’t interested fighting with such a attractive looking girl,
“Can I help you?” Keith spoke again this time with more authority in his tone, the girls skipping and prancing ended immediately,
“Wow someone’s a grumpy pants” she pouted and pretended to be irritated.
Keith marched up to the girl, even if she was pretending to be irritated Keith was not and he was preparing to throw her out, when he put his arms on her shoulders she moved in close to Keith which wasn’t his intention she put both her hands on his chest and looked up into his eyes, her expression was strange it seemed to say a million things to Keith and he felt himself leaning towards this girl he didn’t know, something was wrong Keith could feel it in the back of his mind, but he felt like he wasn’t in control this girl was beckoning to him and he was going to her. Just as he felt like his lips would touch hers, she turned her head away and whispered into Keith’s ear,
“it’s only the wind” Keith snapped out of trance as he jumped back, his mind recognized that sentence and it filled him with a strange sense of fear as his brain raced back to the attack, he remembered where he last heard those words, Keith found himself unable to speak, for the moment.

“So what is it you want?” Keith interrogated; the girl was laughing,
“I don’t want anything” she said innocently, “okay I want a place to live, for a while then I’ll be gone” Keith’s eyes narrowed,
“Fine” Keith had a feeling he didn’t want to deny this strange girl.
“Great” the girl cried enthusiastically, as she bounded in long hyperactive strides towards Keith’s bedroom, Keith was still standing in his living room stunned, “you can have the couch” Danielle’s voice called from the dark recesses of Keith’s bedroom.

The phone began to ring, Keith was hesitant as he reached towards it, pushing the paranoia out of his mind he grabbed the receiver pulling it slowly to his ear,
“Hello?” there was a moment of silence “is this Keith Sutherland?” Keith didn’t recognize the man’s voice
“Who’s asking?” Keith inquired the line was silent again for a brief moment,
“my names doctor Shiraz I was consulted by your doctor…” the voice trailed off too the sound of papers being shuffled in the back ground, “…doctor Cash Myer, yes apparently you were involved in some sort of animal attack at the base of mount thresher, im here to help you, Keith.”
Keith wasn’t sure he could trust this man, he was privy to some information Keith felt wouldn’t be widely known which does help back this mans story up, but what could he be talking about?
“Look doctor I'm feeling fine now so you don’t even need to bother.” Keith replied through clenched teeth, he wasn’t interested in more doctors he felt fantastic.
“Keith it’s imperative that we talk as soon as possible, in person” The doctor’s voice seemed to be far more desperate now.
Keith conceded to the man, more to get him off the phone then out of curiosity for what the man had to say.
“Meet me at star bucks on west park avenue tomorrow come wearing green blazer with a orange hat, so I can recognize you, come alone… doctor” and with that Keith slammed his phone down triumphantly without waiting for the doctors reply.
Turning around Keith saw the strange girl standing at the door; her piercing green eyes were locked onto the phone.
“You always stand and eves drop on peoples private conversations?” Keith growled annoyed with his privacy being invaded.
“You shouldn’t go see that doctor Keith, he’s not to be trusted” the girl spoke with such a serious tone it’s hard to imagine, she’s the same hyperactive nut case that barged in earlier.
“Yeah well that’s well and good, but you’re invading my home, listening to my phone calls, and telling me who I can and can’t trust?” his voice was flowing with aggravation sarcasm.
“Keith,” she spoke slowly as if talking to a child, “I’ve come here to help you,” she walked into the kitchen, the sound of cupboards being opened and closed, “Jesus do you actually drink anything?” she called out exasperated. The girl returned to Keith a moment later carefully keeping her right hand out of sight without drawing suspicion, “Keith let me show you something” she spoke to him when he was only a meter ahead of her, with surprising speed she lunged a large kitchen knife out towards Keith, sliding the blade into his kidneys the blade cut through Keith at his side, right below the rib cage.
Pain exploded through Keith’s body as he felt his stomach convulsed blood and bile up through his mouth, struggling to breathe and even stand, his face a contorted mixture of agony, surprise, and rage. “What the fuck did you do that for you crazy bitch?!” Keith croaked out between vomiting blood.

The girl seemed to find this rather humorous or at least was thoroughly enjoying Keith’s pain, still laughing she pulled the knife out of Keith’s body and told him to relax, blood began flowing freely from the open wound, Keith could only look down at his blood soaked clothes in horror, four years serving in Baghdad, and he gets killed by this psychopathic teenager, Keith was amazed at his own foolishness, and the girl could only look down at him laughing a maniacal cackle, like a witch having a fit of hysteria. Keith’s gaze turned back to his wound that felt numb, when he put his hand to it, he could feel his hand but their was no pain, and he couldn’t feel his severed flesh, his hands franticly ripped his shirt and his eyes widened as he looked at the side of his body, there was a massive pool of blood, his clothes the carpet was all soaked with it, but Keith’s body was immaculate not so much as a scar. “Wh-what the fuck?!” .Keith stammered his words, his perception of reality of the event’s that just took placed were destroyed the world felt like it was tipping over, Keith felt light headed and his mind was burning holes through his skull trying to understand what just happened.
“You fucking bitch, what the fuck is fucking going on?!” Keith’s tone was at least 20 decibels higher then normal, Danielle looked at Keith again like he was a child, ignorant to life’s simplest questions.
“Keith, you’re fine I’ll explain it all after you’ve finished digesting that experience, im sorry for being so harsh, but well…” her voice trailed off, her tone revealed that she wasn’t sorry she probably couldn’t have had more fun at Keith’s expense if she tried.
Danielle held the knife to her arm his eyes locked on the blade “watch Keith” As she said this she ran the knife the length of her fore arm but the blade was deep, easily an inch and a half inside her arm, her face grimaced in pain, however as the knife moved her flesh sealed behind it, when the blade reached her wrist she pulled the blade out, the blood that had been flowing from her arm subsided and there was no mark left that revealed she just opened her arm up, “you heal quicker, as you get older Keith” she spoke like it was common knowledge, more as though she was mentioning hair loss or wrinkled skin.

Prologue.

“Test subject X032, is proving unresponsive to the treatment, he is larger then other test subject’s this is currently the leading hypothesis for the ineffectiveness of the drug, other test subjects were terminated by 0.25mg’s however, we believe we’ve exhausted all option’s and moving to increase X0032’s dosage to 0.25mg in hope’s test subject will become a viable host for the virus, Record.”
The white rubber glove squeaked as the frail hand in habiting it, wrapped around a syringe, another white gloved hand reached for a small brown bottle with a white label, inside a clear liquid sloshed about, as the needle punctured the rubber film that contained the content’s of the small brown bottle.
The syringe was armed with its clear liquid and gliding towards its target’s arm, a man lay in on a hospital style bed.
He used to be an operative in the British special forces, his tattoo that adorned his shoulder was three skull’s with parachutes attached most likely a symbol of his regiment.
The man sweated as the needle approached his arm, a White rubber gloved hand clasped his shoulder, the muscles in it tensed as the man pulled at his restraint’s it was no good he couldn’t break them.
“Computer X0032’s treatment was administered at exactly 0551 hour’s Record.”
The needle pierced the man’s fore arm, as the metal penetrated into his vein, he could feel the content’s of the syringe empty into his body it felt warm, his vision blurred and his chest felt tight.
The soldier tried to yell but no air would leave his lung’s he felt like his chest would explode.
The man opened his mouth to scream again but still air wouldn’t escape him.
Fear streamed down the man’s face, in the form of tears leaving clean streaks across the man’s dirt covered cheeks.
“Computer, test subject X0032 seems to be experiencing some kind of asphyxiation, I’m about to infect X0032 with the disease, Record.”
Another Syringe guided by white rubber hand’s delivered another clear liquid directly into the man’s blood stream.
“Test subject X0032 seems to be able to breath now, he however appears to have lost consciousness, he seems to be in some kind of REM state, his eyes are unresponsive to light, Record.”

The soldier's eyes shot open to see the man standing directly above him, he had deep wrinkles about his eyes from too many years squinting down a microscope.
His breath was fowl, like the man hasn’t brushed his teeth for week’s and his teeth seemed to be a testament to that assumption they were stained yellow from cigarettes and the root’s were black and rotten, his moustache was more of result from unkempt hygiene, most noticeable feature of the scientist was his surprised look on his face, slowly the man’s memory drew back to him, he remembered he was being held prisoner at some sort of laboratory, He looked at his restraints they were thick leather with metal buckle’s attached to the steel rail’s of the medical style bed he lay on.
His eyes turned back to the scientist that appeared to be talking to him self.
The man felt his arm’s tugging on the restraints and they creaked the sound of leather breaking, then he knew he could get free, he tensed his body then thrust his leg out, the restraint around his ankle broke like it was made of wool, with his right leg free he slammed his foot hard into the scientist who landed in a crumpled mess amongst his medical equipment he kept on the bench.
Thrusting his body upwards breaking the bond’s on his other leg, lifting both his leg’s up he threw them down while twisting onto his right shoulder his left arm broke free, then with his recently freed arm he undid his right arm’s bracer.
The man stood on his unbound leg’s the first taste of freedom in months and it filled him with excitement, he flew straight for the door, it burst open cracking and banging against the wall, sending the laboratory's alarms into an frenzy.
The man passed closed door’s inside the cells were men of a similar predicament waiting for their fate.
Two orderly’s heard the alarm’s and have moved to the door to block this man’s escape but he busted through the orderly’s like they were fragile rag dolls, one fell through a glass window to a laboratory, as the other hit the concrete wall with a sickening smack as his head cracked, the orderlies body slumped to the floor leaving behind a blood smear where his head met its match.
The soldier's heart pounded in his chest and the world seemed to tilt on it’s side, his vision refused to completely focus and his eye's rolled about in his head, like he had no control over where his eyes wondered, but he didn’t care.
The man saw a final set of closed doors they were green heavy iron doors with out window’s, and above them a red and white neon sign read exit, the man didn’t even care if the doors were locked.
His breathing was heavy, drowning out the noise of the alarm and the voices yelling from behind him.
The man felt sharp jab’s of pain flowing through his arm’s and legs, looking at his arm’s in horror at what the sensation was, they had what appeared to be bullet wound’s decorating his limb's like massive black and red insect bites, but his leg’s still stayed moving, stayed strong, as the bleeding ceased, and the wounds sealed themselves.
The man looked up in time to put his arm’s out against the doors, they blew open as Keith flew through them, he was thankful they weren’t locked.
It was night outside and rain gently fell upon his face it was almost to much, the man cried out in sheer joy, he was in bear feet and the the ground was made of wet gravel, the smell of freshly mown grass wafted into the soldier's nostrils.
The man hadn’t felt rain in what seemed like an eternity having been locked in that windowless cell for months.
The soldier felt as though he could run even faster now, since the soul crushing restraint of the lab no longer bound him.
And through the darkness he ran, never looking back, his leg’s never faltering on their pace.

“Test subject X0032 is a success. Activate GPS #3141, project morning star is now active, inform the brother hood.”
The white leather gloves placed the small cell phone back in the green plastic pocket of the lab coat.
